Abstract:Lishan New Village is located in the south of Lishui City away 23km, whose new rural construction was implemented since 2009 under the call for “Beautiful Village”. Its construction was carried out through unified design combined with self-construction, which lasted for 3 years. Field studies are conducted in different periods, and it is found out the phenomena of spontaneous addition and alteration by villagers in the process of selfconstruction and utilization. By studying reasons for these phenomena, three characteristics in construction and utilization of village houses of mountainous area in south Zhejiang are abstracted, which may give a light on new rural house design.

Abstract:Contradiction plays an important role in Louis Kahn’s works in which rationality and irrationality are equally displayed. In the process of pursuing forms and light, Kahn insists on real appearance of construction and opposes decorations when he deals with architectural details. This paper expects to get a general and systematical idea of the nodes by analyzing and classifying Kahn’s works, we can summarize Kahn’s style of detail design in distinction, concealment and contraposition, which can be included in his design philosophy of classicism and structure rationalism. For the classicism bringing out the distinction, concealment and contraposition, and meanwhile distinction is the significant part of Kahn’s rationality in architectural structure. It is the mutual function of tectonic order and classic pursuit that makes up the expression of Kahn’s nodes order.

Abstract:By summarizing the general laws of urbanization and the evolution process of China’s urbanization, it’s found that there are amazing achievements for Chinese exploratory urbanization, and still many shortcomings. The main reason is a lack of stable standard to measure the quality of urbanization. This paper puts forward that human settlements is the important standard to measure the quality of urbanization is put forward. From the current situation of urban problems, it discusses the necessity: land urbanization is faster than the population urbanization; the process of urban-rural integration is slow; the contradiction between supply and demand of city water is sharp; the air pollution is particularly serious. From discipline foundation of human settlements, it elaborates the sufficiency: The existing measurement ignores the subject and of essence of the urbanization; Excellent talent teams and solid discipline makes its own the sufficiency of the theory and practice of the of human settlements sciences. From the essence and function of the city, it discusses the importance: Human settlements is the essence of the city; The human being is the subject of the city, and it is not the essence of the city; To measure the quality of urbanization should set up the “ people-oriented” awareness, but the human being should not be taken as the essence of the city, and what’s more, the human being should not be taken as measurement of the quality of urbanization; Residential function is the main function of the city, residential areas are the most basic functional areas of the city. The scientific outlook on development is used to lead the urbanization construction in the newtype urbanization, but the important premise is the stable standard to measure the quality of urbanization.

Abstract:The city pavilion is among the most indicative public landscape symbols in Chinese historical urban landscape (HUL). It contains landscape scenery, ritual education, social value and other multiple construction mechanism. However, current fragmented protection and construction that ignore the formation mechanism of city pavilion split its context continuity in HUL. It is an urgent problem in the protection and reconstruction of traditional urban landscape. The paper takes 251 city pavilion literature describing official constructions recorded in The Complete Works of Song as the object, and points out that city pavilion is an important content of the Song Dynasty city landscape construction. Through the statistics of word frequency of the pavilion building goal, the paper sorts out 3 kinds of pavilions: 1) the ritual system type, 2) educational type, 3) viewing type; and analyzes 4 kinds of spatial distributions: 1) axial symmetry layout based on the ritual, 2) enjoying topographical advantages from Fengshui, 3) on the gates and the wall, 4) being attached to the garden. Thus, the study ravels out the coupling relationship between city pavilion spatial distribution and its internal formation mechanism. This paper provides basic information for the protection and reconstruction of HUL.

Abstract:Historical gardens play an important role in the urban green space system, which inherit the historical feature. However, the problems of fragmentation of green space and the isolation of historical gardens are common in many cities. This paper, taking Chengdu historical gardens as example, put forward the view of bringing the historical gardens into the green space system by analyzing the status of historical gardens and urban green space. Historical gardens will be fallen into three parts: the core protected area, the buffer area and the marginal area, which are connected by landscape corridors in the city in order to make the gardens integrated into the green space system to a great extent and inspire its ecological functions. Also the renovation or new gardens should pay attention to the cultural preservation and heritage.
