    • Teaching of Landscape Architecture Discipline With Characteristics

      Abstract:The graduation design of landscape architecture is different from other courses, and it is not only the course of study, but also the process of using. Combined with teaching practice,we summarize“comprehensive utilization, effective practice” to realize the teaching idea and goal of “comprehensive assessment, role transformation”, and introduce and analyse the specific content. According to the teaching idea and the goal, we put forward graduation design teaching characteristics:“undertaking past exam paper”,“site investigation”,“monographic study”and “school-enterprise cooperation”,and request in the specific practice targeted for graduation design teaching, which provides considerable achievements and guiding exper ience for the reform and innovation of landscape architecture teaching and discusses the transformation of teaching achievement as well.

      Abstract:The course of Site Planning and Design based on Landscape Architecture is much different from Architecture and Urban Planning in training goal, content and function, etc. It should be considered in Landscape Architecture teaching system to reposition the course, and reform teaching in training goal, content and method. On the basis of extending the engineering and technical characteristics that emphasis on vertical and pipeline comprehensive planning in Architecture and Urban Planning, it should firstly emphasize on the use of site analysis method in design, secondly strengthen the steps and methods of site layout which is guided by system theory, and then combine with the strong practicability of the course to strengthen teaching contents of practice type.

    • A Study on the Teaching System Construction of Landscape Design Course in Environmental Art Major of Technological Universities

      Abstract:Landscape Design Course is an important core curriculum of Landscape Architecture major. Among those colleges and universities with Landscape Architecture major, the setting of professional core courses and the goal of talent cultivation are very different due to the impact of different educational platform and subject backgrounds. In regard to the major of Environment Art Design in technological universities, the study is based on how to construct the teaching system of the design course. Especially, the paper analyses the training programs, curriculum, project co-ordination, and teaching methods, etc. It then explores how to use the integrated influence of arts and science effectively, in order to offer the teaching of Landscape Design Course with scientific support and multidisciplinary synergies. It finally improves the teaching system construction of Landscape Design Course in Environmental Art major, on the basis of developing school characteristic advantages.

      Abstract:Urban open space is an important study field for the discipline of landscape architecture. When shaping urban open space system or any exterior space, however, we cannot only take the open space itself into consideration. It is necessary for landscape architecture education to let students fully understand the theories of urban design and design skills of urban framework and development pattern. Thus, the student’s knowledge structures and design approaches will move towards the integrated model. On this basis, the landscape thinking method should be introduced into urban design, so as to achieve the goal of enhancing student’s creative ability in design.

      Abstract:Landscape Architecture is one of the core directions in the environmental design postgraduate education. Compared with the students in the landscape architecture, there are certain gaps in the cognitive ability of the landscape architecture for the postgraduate of the environmental design of art background, especially for the establishment of landscape architecture discipline system and the training of landscape design thinking and method, and there are also some problems in the cognitive ability of the related subjects. Based on this, a framework for the training of landscape architecture ability for the environmental design professional graduate students is discussed in this paper, including the cultivation of students’ ability to operate in space and place, to establish a design paradigm and the Learning Blended model under the multi subjects.

    • Ecological Water-Green Win-Win Spatial Modes of Semi-Arid Area in Loess Plateau

      Abstract:The semi-arid area of Loess Plateau is an ecological sensitive area in landscape architecture. The main issue that local settlements confronted with is the shortage of water resource and vegetation. Taking the study of the relation among water, green (vegetation), and human into consideration, focusing on catchment and greening, ecological rehabilitation, and industrial planning, the theory of “water-green win-win” can be combined with landscape spatial planning to generate four principles: order, type, layout, and capacity. According to four typical typography as pond and river bank area, gully area, mountainous slope area, and tableland area, four spatial modes can be constructed. The ecological spatial modes are possible to guide landscape planning in semi-arid area, and hence improve the human settlements.

    • The Research on Clustering Spatial Planning Method Based on the Protection of Water Environment

      Abstract:The planning approach of spatial layout pattern based on protecting the hydrological process highlights the spatial integrity involving both the environment and built form, and reduces the intrusion to water environment, and enables the environmental function and ecological service to human settlements. Associated concepts and methods of planning to protect the hydrological process are explicitly unfolded in combination with the case study. Through combing watershed ecological process, conservation and utilization of natural elements, structure of low-carbon construction measures, this paper explicitly addresses the responses to hydrological process protecting three aspects of landuse, site design and built form layout pattern: deepen the analysis of hydrological process and environmental resources, and promote the organic collaboration between the natural hydrological environment efficiency and design management; protect the high value of natural vegetation community, soil environment and natural drainage pattern; the match among land use function, hydrological process and resource characteristics; the design response to microtopography and the implantation of green infrastructure.

      Abstract:Natural eco-security factors do not arouse enough attention in assessment of urban planning implementation as yet, so the assessment conclusion would be partial. This paper puts forward index system of natural eco-security based on land use, and also takes the overall plan of Chongqing New North Zone as an example to specifically illustrate the assessment system mentioned above.

      Abstract:With the rapid economic development, the contradiction between urban and natural ecological protection have become increasingly prominent, and ecological security has become an important prerequisite for the development of urban space. Represented as samples and demonstrations of Guangzhou ecological urban planning, Haizhu new eco-city will be built into the model eco-city which will take the Acres of Orchards as its core, and is of the splendor and charm of the flower town, water town and green town. The construction of the ecologysecurity- pattern should not only focus on planning ideas, goals and methods, but also attach greater importance to the practice of ecological civilization and develop from a strategic vision to planning and implementation. This paper conducts analysis of the basic construction of ecology security pattern and carries out active exploration of the general ecological security pattern construction in Guangzhou city.

    • Thoughts on Urban and Rural Planning System From the Viewpoint of Environmental Performance

      Abstract:Based on the perspective of environmental performance, this paper analyzes the policy-making background, institution, functions and personnel constitution of planning organizational system from three aspects of environmental functions, environmental demands and environmental facility management. It comes to a conclusion that the current organization system in China lacks coordination of environmental planning, environmental demands and optimizing power. Institutional settings and staffing are not conducive to environmental performance. The paper also puts forward inter-department coordination inventory based on environmental performance and preliminary suggestions such as improving the planning commission mechanism relying on the legislative law amendment.

    • The Exploration of a Neighborhood Planning Scheme Following the Rule of “Harmonious Coexistence of Pluralism and Difference” —Case Studies of Yulin and Caojiaxiang Neighborhoods in Chengdu

      Abstract:With the diversified urban development, and with work-unit neighborhoods in the planned economy system turning into pluralistic neighborhoods, many old neighborhoods are unable to meet the growing material and cultural needs of local residents. Therefore, from the perspective of neighborhood planning, this paper employs f ield surveys, questionnaires and interviews to examine Yulin and Caojiaxiang neighborhoods in Chengdu. It analytically studies the contradictory problems found in neighborhoods. The paper also explores constructive suggestions that can improve neighborhood planning and promote the construction of harmonious and sustainable neighborhood development on the basis of meeting the requirements of residents with a variety of backgrounds.

    • Exploration on the Design of the Kleingarten Developing Towards a Society of Leisure

      Abstract:The Kleingarten is the personal farms which are purchased by urban citizens. The farmers also help managing the lands. The farms will provide the citizens places for leisure, farming experiences, learning, taking a vacation and other holiday activities. It is an advanced product of leisure agriculture park, and reflects the change of the consumption patterns from the standard mass service to the individual service[1], which complies the point mentioned by Dumazedier in Towards a Society of Leisure[2]. It points out that the leisure activities develop towards the highest stage where the personal development is advocated. Because of the Kleingarten in our country is still on the initial stage, the corresponding research is scarce. Then this article will review the historical development of leisure agriculture park based on the view of planning and architectural design. By means of comparison, the operational mode and the key elements for construction will be analyzed. Meanwhile, design strategies which pay more attention to the citizens’ experience and self-fulfilling will be explored.

    • Research on the Satisfaction Degree of Rural Tourism Planning Based on Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation —A Case Study in Donghan Village, Hu County, Shaanxi

      Abstract:Rural tourism planning is an important part of urban and rural integrated planning. It also has a tight connection with new countryside construction. This paper firstly summarizes the development and trends of rural tourism planning. Then it reviews the characteristic development of Donghan village. The paper gets satisfaction scores of the “painting village” tourism using the method of fuzzy comprehension evaluation. The statistics are obtained from Likert scale questionnaires filling by 150 tourists. Meanwhile, the paper constructs a logic level system of the evaluation of rural tourism satisfaction evaluation. Then, after case studies of several successful tourism villages, the paper points out three most important problems of tourism project as well as several suggestions of Donghan village. This paper will provide references for rural tourism planning evaluation.

    • The Spatial Distribution and Influence Factors of Residential Rents of Central Districts in Xi’an City

      Abstract:Urban housing and living spatial pattern in cities, which is the important visual to recognize cities and their spatial structure, deeply reflects the society economy conditions. It is a new field of residential space analysis to study residential problems from the point of view of residential rents, which provides quantitative analysis method on spatial differentiation law of urban housing. Based on 964 homes’ transaction information in Xi’an’s seven central districts in July, 2014, this paper uses ArcGIS and Sufer software to explore the spatial distribution characteristics and its factors of residential rents in Xi’an’s seven districts, and uses SPSS software to discuss the factors affecting the residential rents. The conclusions from the analysis include: (1) The rental housing mainly concentrated within the central-south districts (Yanta, Beilin and Lianhu); (2) the spatial distribution of residential rents takes on a pattern of “center around the high low” and “ residence suburbanization”, Yanta District has generally high rents, the highest appears in Qujiang subdistrict; Chang’an district has generally low rents, the lowest appears in Yinzhen subdistrict; (3) By means of regression analysis, the main factors affecting the residential rents such as residential facilities, decoration and commercial service facilities have been found. This study has a practical significance, which can provide theoretical reference for policy making.

    • Tracing the Historical Thread of Classical Style in the Works of Alvaro Siza

      Abstract:This paper discusses the subject from two aspects: place making and building design. For the place making, the paper takes the Santa Maria Church de Canaveses for example, as it takes the metaphor of the Athen Acropolis according to the research. For the building, this paper on one hand analyses the architecture plan, facade and even threedimensional perspective to extract the A-B-A prototype, on the other hand analyses the typical U type of Siza’s design. Furthermore, the paper traces the origin of these classical style from the works of Alvaro Siza to Adolf Loos, Le Corbusier, Andrea Palladio and all the way to the classical architecture, and make comparisons.

    • Paradigm and Metaphor —Study on the Natural Theme in Alvar Aalto’s Regional Architecture Design

      Abstract:With the global expansion of industrial civilization, nature is neglected and destroyed unprecedentedly. The issue of intergrowth with nature becomes more urgent than before. Alvar Aalto, a famous Finland modern architect who rooted architecture design in Finland’s nature and culture, explored a new way of modern regional architecture which is harmonious with nature and achieved great success. The rational study on the nature theme in Aalto’s regional design is of great significance for contemporary development and architecture design. After comparing the original documents, this paper firstly carries out an in-depth study on the landscape and cultural origin of nature theme in Aalto’s regional architecture design. Secondly, the approaches to express nature theme in Aalto’s regional design are discussed and analyzed in detail. Then, it is found out that the love for amazing beauty of Finland’s nature and the cherishing of Finland’s cultural value are the important bases for Aalto’s successful presentation of nature theme in regional architecture design, and the innovative use of paradigm of Finland vernacular court-yards and multiple metaphor use of Finland landscape are two key methods for Aalto’s impressive expression of nature theme.

      Abstract:As the increasing maturity of vertical green technology, it is more extensively adopted in the building facade design. This article reviews the energy-saving effect of vertical greenery, and discusses the unique expression of the building skin on composition, color, light and shadow when architectural design is in combination with vertical greening. Finally, this paper summarizes the classifications and the key points of vertical greenery design.

      Abstract:On the basis of Chinese Traditional Villages Assessment Indicator System and field research of southwest mountainous villages, this paper, putting the ambiguity of protection and evaluation of mountainous traditional villages, provides adjustments and supplements for the existing evaluation system. It has established criteria collection of the mountainous villages’ protection and evaluation, and has ensured the weight of evaluation indicator with the mathematical logistic approach. It also effectively combines the qualitative and quantitative analysis, ensuring the reliability, accuracy and objectivity of evaluation indicators. Hence it eventually establishes evaluation indicator system of the evaluation of the traditional villages in mountainous region.

    • The “Spatial Sequences” and “Artistic Conception” in Landscape Architectural Space of “Three Lanes and Seven Alleys” in Fuzhou City

      Abstract:The spatial artistic conception of landscape architecture has been turned out to be accompanied by spatial sequences, as it is one of the initial targets for Chinese classical gardens to origin from while go further than nature, which has resulted in the similarity in the case of the organization of spatial sequences in landscape architectures. However, due to the diversity in natural and sociocultural aspects, studies have shown that the spatial sequences in landscape architectures can be very diverse in more detailed landscape scale, which has consequently built up a spatial artistic conception of harmony with distinctness. Basing on the investigation and references examination, here we assess and then diagram the “Three Lanes and Seven Alleys” to accomplish the analysis of spatial sequences and artistic conception of the private gardens in Fuzhou City. We also believe that our approach facilitates the reveal of the status of harmony with distinctness in Fuzhou and Chinese classical gardens.
