Abstract:The current planning and design of affordable housing settlements are of no difference to general urban residential areas, and the demands of target residents on public space are not being concerned. According to the data from interviews and questionnaires on the local residents of seven typical affordable housing settlements in Guangzhou, it’ s found that there exists a remarkable difference between age group, income and outdoor recreation of residents from affordable housing settlements and those from general urban residential areas. The planning and design on public space of affordable housing settlements is supposed to be oriented to the real needs of the residents, which should be based on an analysis on behaviors of different human groups. The key issues to improve the public space quality of affordable housing settlements include improving the pedestrian traffic, optimizing the recreation area, and expanding the function of overhead layer, etc.

Abstract:In the context of urban-rural integration, the process of community-based reform in the rural area is promoted innovatively in Zhucheng. Administrative villages converted from the organizational level to rural communities including five to six neighboring administrative villages. This reform gained obvious achievements for the rural areas in terms of getting more government finances and basic public services facility, etc. However, Zhucheng also had to face new problems such as being restr icted by histor ical and institutional factors, the community construction highly dependent on financial support, community reform restricting the development resources including population flow to urban areas, and also the phenomenon of mixed urban-rural condition.

Abstract:In the transitional period, the traditional top-down and government-led social management style cannot fit well with the needs of community development, and then it’s imperative to carry out the grassroots social management innovation. This paper firstly adopts the social capital perspective to construct a theoretical framework about the dynamical relationship between grassroots social management innovation and community development. It then analyzes the data collected from questionnaire surveys, onsite interviews and observations from the Xiaojiahe Community in Chengdu’s High-tech Zone to examine the reasons for the successful social management innovation in the perspective of social trust. It’s found that the availability of social capital determines the choices of methods for social management innovation in grassroots organization, and this innovative process in turn strengthens the accumulation of social capital which would promote community development. The holistic and coordinated community development would thus further improve the quality of social capital. It’s expected that this study will provide references for social management innovation in the future.

Abstract:With the urbanization rate increasing in China, updating the stock in the city community becomes increasingly important. The Third Plenary Session of Eighteenth Central Committee proposes “transferring resource allocation ways from administrative configuration to market allocation” and on the Central Meeting of Urbanization, it also emphasizes “controlling the increment, while revitalizing the stock”. The mode of urban construction taking the new city construction as priority is gradually turning to the urban management combining increment and stock. This paper, taking the community renovation planning of Shapowei in Xiamen City as an example, explores the planning transformation of urban increment community in the context of new era, proposes the renovation strategies of “transferring from space design to institution design, from the government-dominant model to autonomous growth, from massive rebuilding to small-sized update, from rapid mutation type to incremental construction”. It also puts forward that the planning transformation should build community centre, industrial cultivating mechanism and space management system and guide the organic renewal of the traditional community through innovation mechanism.

Abstract:Urban residential planning focuses on location, environment, house type and public facility, etc. The efficiency of disaster prevention system, a part of invisible public benefit, is lack of full attention except basic requirements. Based on the classification of urban residential safe space mode, we propose the factor hierarchy of urban residential safe space based on comprehensive disasters prevention. We firstly divide the stages of disaster prevention into two stages as prevention and emergency. Then we classify the spatial elements related to different kinds of disasters and implement them on the macroscopically, middle and microscopic special levels. Finally, we build up the factor hierarchy through classifying and integrating the elements.

Abstract:In Ming Chenghua period, after the diversion of the Han River, Hankou thus appeared. Due to its excellent waterway environment, merchants gathered in Hankou and Hankou's business was booming. Because of the isolated island pattern, Hankou's government was loose in the beginning, and spontaneously formed associations and gangs to manage the local place, where balanced governance structure just like the crystals took shape and achieved local autonomy. Due to the lack of offi cial intervention, Hankou took the fi shbone-like spatial form with rich and diverse daily life and less social exclusion, constituting a harmonious business social community. The port of Hankou opening in 1861, giving rise to changes in the economic structure, local self-government began to collapse, which was replaced by offi cial exhaustive monitoring. After the collapse of the autonomy, community began to differentiate. In the process of city center transferring to the concession, spatial differentiation took shape in Hankou. Due to the impact of the new economic logic, Hankou wall was built into the street, and "street economy" started to come out and changed the "waterway economy". At the same time, the scale of cities was also enlarged, and the unifi ed construction model of straight roads and the new residential became popular. As a result of the police system, social ecology was greatly bruised, and local autonomy was totally replaced by the offi cial governance.

Abstract:The development of urbanization in China is faced with the challenge of unavoidable aging population. The problem of aging population flow has been the important issue about the healthy development of urbanization in China. This paper focuses on inadequate coordination of aging population flow and urbanization, and attaches importance to the practical demand of the current population flow. Based on the analysis of the health path of population f low and the judgment about the disorder of aging population f low, it clarifies the urbanization development dilemma. It’s problem-oriented and creatively proposes the coordination mechanism, which takes the “the ideal old-age residence” construction as the key and covers “living space, economic security, emotional exchange, the pension service and traffic communication”. Focusing on the two core issues about the ideal old-age residence—“where to build?” and “how to build?”, it tries to put forward the specific strategies and realization ways to build the large old-age residences in the urban-rural integration area. It’s expected that it will provide references for realizing the coordinated development of urbanization and aging problems.

Abstract:The planning and design of urban space of mountain terrain should be based on rational analysis, combining imagery thinking including landforms, integrating life experience and perceptual knowledge to effectively coordinate and utilize various existing and future natural and human landscape elements, and arrange new design elements to support, balance and perfect the series of shapes in mind which need to be reorganized, and thus develop a new space art image full of artistic conception. For the design of urban sculptures, normally the design and creation generally follow the process of conceptionvisualization- composition. However, urban sculptures in mountain terrain are constructed according to special mountain terrains on the basis of general process. This paper adopts the method of case study of typical mountain sculptures to conduct studies on the construction of urban sculptures in mountain terrain, and summarizes the methods of construction of urban sculpture in mountain terrain in view to adding mountain elements and design method for the teaching of urban sculptures design.

Abstract:Interwoven by the light and shadow, the city at night presents a distinct image to the daytime city. In the urban landscape lighting design, the use of colored light infuses vitality to the city on the one hand; on the other hand it also gives rise to some problems such as the image of bizarre urban landscape caused by indiscriminative use of colored light and excessive use of colored light. This paper attempts to seek the methods of colored light design for urban landscape. And it’s expected to provide a new way for making a better image of the city.
