Abstract:High-quality window view significantly impacts the public health status of indoor occupants. This study conducted a comprehensive review and analysis of 96 English-language articles related to window scenery research retrieved and screened from the Web of Science (WOS) core database. The results show that in terms of research settings and participants, discussions are most extensive regarding residential and office buildings, with participants primarily consisting of students and company employees. In terms of research content, it mainly divides into studies focusing on the therapeutic benefits of window view under the health dimension, perception preferences, productivity performance, and behavioral impacts, as well as assessments of window view content, view visibility, and view clarity under the quality measurement dimension. In terms of applied methodologies, the focus lies on conducting experiments through digital image display, real-world arrangement, simulation modeling, online surveys, and on-site investigations. Finally, addressing the research gaps, proposals include expanding the interaction and connectivity between diverse populations and window view in high-rise, high-density settings, and enhancing long-term tracking and assessment of study participants. Additionally, there is a call for deepening the investigation into the mechanisms underlying the relationship between window view and health outcomes, and expanding the experimental design to incorporate various sensory states.
