Facing the transformation of urban China, the original urban planning and management methods are no longer suitable for the needs of contemporary urban development. China has established a policy for promoting detailed urban management supported by urban design. Based on some best practices, this paper proposes a methodology for the detailed management of urban design, by means of plan-making system, process control, and postoccupation management. Taking Zhuhai as a case study, this article investigates its urban design practices, including its four-tier urban design plan system, process control with high standard and multi-angle, and multimode post-occupation management.
