Starting from reflection on the present situation of surrounding environment of Xi’an historic heritage, aim at Xi’an great heritage sites’ surrounding environment protection and urban development issues, propose four types of suitable spatial pattern and planning strategies, including surrounded contrast model, corridor isolation model, interlocking transition model, and open transition mode; as well as establish a comprehensive evaluation approach of mode selection, in order to provide environmental protection suggestion to the heritage sites which will be surrounded by urban expansion.
