This paper reviews comprehensive environment-behavior theories that are based on person-environment relation, which are free-willing approach, deterministic approach, possibilistic approach, probabilistic approach, interactionalism and transactionalism, and focuses on the viewpoint of transactionalism and its differences from the other comprehensive environment-behavior theories, and compares the differences between the instrumental and the spiritual views of people-environment relations, as well as the differences between growth of high technology and people-environment research. It puts forward comprehensive design methodology and dynamic design methodology that are based on transactionalism and the spiritual views, and illustrates the application of design methodology by the research cases.
