The “Belt and Road” Initiative is a major strategic innovation which is based on cultural exchanges to promote common prosperity. Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, as nodes along the Belt and Road, with the rapid economic development, its regional ecological has also been greatly affected and its unique geographical element is gradually weakened at the same time. Based on this, it is urgent to do the research about the unique regional culture of northern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Starting from the contemporary regional architecture creation, this paper is based on the interpretation of the traditional architecture culture, uses the theory of construction, and proposes the contemporary architectural design strategies of the northern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, including conforming to the local climate conditions, appropriating local materials technology and meeting national spatial strategy of living customs based on the actual projects. Finally, it is concluded that the northern Xinjiang Uygur autonomous regional architectural creation should be based on local characteristics, and deeply excavate the connotation of “local”.
