Lishan New Village is located in the south of Lishui City away 23km, whose new rural construction was implemented since 2009 under the call for “Beautiful Village”. Its construction was carried out through unified design combined with self-construction, which lasted for 3 years. Field studies are conducted in different periods, and it is found out the phenomena of spontaneous addition and alteration by villagers in the process of selfconstruction and utilization. By studying reasons for these phenomena, three characteristics in construction and utilization of village houses of mountainous area in south Zhejiang are abstracted, which may give a light on new rural house design.
