Abstract:The Kleingarten is the personal farms which are purchased by urban citizens. The farmers also help managing the lands. The farms will provide the citizens places for leisure, farming experiences, learning, taking a vacation and other holiday activities. It is an advanced product of leisure agriculture park, and reflects the change of the consumption patterns from the standard mass service to the individual service[1], which complies the point mentioned by Dumazedier in Towards a Society of Leisure[2]. It points out that the leisure activities develop towards the highest stage where the personal development is advocated. Because of the Kleingarten in our country is still on the initial stage, the corresponding research is scarce. Then this article will review the historical development of leisure agriculture park based on the view of planning and architectural design. By means of comparison, the operational mode and the key elements for construction will be analyzed. Meanwhile, design strategies which pay more attention to the citizens’ experience and self-fulfilling will be explored.
