Abstract:With the diversified urban development, and with work-unit neighborhoods in the planned economy system turning into pluralistic neighborhoods, many old neighborhoods are unable to meet the growing material and cultural needs of local residents. Therefore, from the perspective of neighborhood planning, this paper employs f ield surveys, questionnaires and interviews to examine Yulin and Caojiaxiang neighborhoods in Chengdu. It analytically studies the contradictory problems found in neighborhoods. The paper also explores constructive suggestions that can improve neighborhood planning and promote the construction of harmonious and sustainable neighborhood development on the basis of meeting the requirements of residents with a variety of backgrounds.
