Abstract:Owing to the development of urbanization, urban population expansion and tension of land used for urban center, more attention is paid on the development and utilization of underground space. However, since the underground space is closed and lack of natural lighting, it is easy to get lost. There are obvious deficiencies in utilizing space environment factors in wayfinding guide design, which to a large extent affects people’s wayfinding behavior. From the perspective of wayfinding, having conducted investigation and analysis in the underground commercial street space environment from five business circles in Chongqing and that of Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and other places by using the methods of field investigation and questionnaire form, this article concludes the causes of the problem and the inf luence factors of underground commercial street space wayfinding. Combining with the characteristics of psychological behavior, the article conducts analysis in the three aspects of the space oriented design, system design and the emotional atmosphere, and puts forward the corresponding design strategies in order to provide reference for the future design of underground commercial street.
