Abstract:This paper takes two Hutong communities of Beijing in the typical tourism development mode—Zhonglouwan and Gulouyuan community as examples,and employs questionnaires,interview surveys and spatial scanning observation to study the impact of tourism development on children’s outdoor physical activities.It’s found that children mainly have a positive perception on the tourism development of the Hutong communities in Zhonglouwan and Gulouyuan community,and tourists and the main characteristics of place are the dominant factors to affect children’s perceptions; tourism development in Hutong communities attracts low age (6 to 8 years of age) children's participation, at the same time the number of children's caregivers has been increased;leisure-oriented tourism development a nd business-or iented tour ism development exer ts obviously different influence on children's outdoor physical activities, while it has little impact on the activity intensity.
