The evaluation system for the sustainable communities has very important significance, because it is a reference for construction of sustainable development community. BREEAM Communities has been applied extensively in Europe. This paper takes BREEAM Communities and Chinese Ecological Residential Technology Assessment Manual as the subject of study. It analyses the differences of two systems on structure, contents and methods of evaluation, summarizes the applicable contents of BREEAM Communities, then it proposes the optimization strategies in terms of process, principle, contents, and completeness for evaluation system of China’s sustainable development community.
