Artistic conception of Chinese classical garden ‘Yijing’ is a popular theme for scholars to study. However, the scholars have their own different views on this theme. Some scholars believe that the artistic conception“Yijing” is an important feature of classical gardens in China, and some think that it’s the highest evaluation standard of Chinese classical gardens. Although artistic conception “Yijing” is of high status,its essence is still fuzzy, and the dispute about Yijing lasted. This paper reviewed the past studies and classical literature, and explored the history and essence of Chinese classical gardens in the perspective of ‘Yijing’. It tried to change the mysterious and ambiguous condition of Yijing, and proposed the feasible concept of ‘Yijing’.
