    Abstract:

Many Shuifa (fountains) were created in Yuanmingyuan, the most important imperial garden of Qing Dynasty, which presented varied water landscapes with Chinese traditional style and western style by special machines. Based on historical documents, this paper tries to research the history and forms of Shuifa, analyze their characteristics, and makes further exploration on the relations of the fountains in Yuanmingyuan and European gardens.
