Abstract:The history and culture of contemporary Chinese city is gradually lost, and the building in the city takes on the homogenization. This paper conducts a comparison between Suzhou Museum and Suzhou garden in the perspective of space and artistic conception. It’s found that the former fully inherits the style of the latter and is very properly embedded in a specific environment. Suzhou museum, which is permeated with the innovative ideas of Mr. Leoh Ming Pei—Chinese style with innovation, Suzhou style with creativity, is a successful practice of an indigenous design. It’s expected that it will provide a good example of understanding the relationships between architecture and city as well as city and environment from the perspective of culture.
