Abstract:Considering the difficulties faced by cultural heritages in China, and inheriting from international conservation experiences, this paper firstly defines the concept and constructs the assessment system of the heritage for the War of Resistance. Secondly, it attempts to establish the conservation space system consisting of heritage corridors, heritage communities, as well as heritage sites and heritage fabrics, in particular considering the composition of these heritages in Chongqing. Thirdly, it deals with the adaptive technology for the preservation and restoration of these cultural properties, including the continuation of traditional techniques and application of modern technology. Finally, it explores the integrated conservation of the tangible and intangible components embodied in these heritages, in particular through the interpretative reuse of the historic patrimony. The broadening of heritage definition and integrated conservation strategies aim to enrich the regional conservation concepts and methods, hence to promote the sustainable development based on heritage conservation and reuse.
