Set in the backg rou nd of China's urbanization and economic development, this paper, starting from the global environmental issues, reviews on the problems of urban development in China’s developed regions for the past several decades. By taking into consideration of domestic and international theory on ecological city and practice cases, the paper proposes responding solutions to such problems. At last, taking the Strategic Spatial Planning of Qianjiang, Chongqing as an example, th rough elaborating on cit y’s industry selection, spatial structure, land use and ecological construction, the paper discusses how to find suitable ways of sustainable development for China's less developed regions.
