Through an interpretive reading of the conceptual design of Yuxi Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, this paper draws a conclusion on the process of a rational design and discusses the effects of various restriction especially the urban spatial pattern on design, which, the action per se, becomes a useful practice that reflects the causality between the condition of site and the creation of architecture.
