Agai nst the backg rou nd of u rban development having entered the age of “soft living environment”, whose ultimate objective is to achieve harmonious living, this paper comes up with the concept of “civic space”, aiming to divert attention from public space to the essence of public life, arouse concerns with the relationship bet we e n spa ce a nd t he publ ic, combi ne t he consideration of space with social and human problems and make judgments, and stimulate potential and deeper needs of public space.
