Abstract: |
Urban renewal is accompanied by urban development. With the progress of urbanization
and the implementation of territorial planning, how to grasp the development direction of urban
renewal is particularly important. The pace of urban development in western countries is earlier
than that in China, and the research on urban renewal is more than 20 years earlier than that in
China. In the 1980s, activities and researches related to urban renewal were carried out in Beijing,
Shanghai, Guangzhou and other first tier cities. With the arrival of the era of stock planning and the
promotion of land and space planning policy, urban renewal also ushers in more space, attracting
more scholars to research.
Based on CNKI and Web of Science database, this paper uses CiteSpace visualization
analysis software to conduct quantitative statistics and knowledge mapping analysis on the
relevant research results in the past 10 years since the implementation of territorial planning.
In terms of research trends and current situation, the relevant achievements of urban renewal
have been increasing since 2011. Before 2015, the growth of literature volume was stable, after
2016, the growth was larger, and it broke 100 for the first time in 2017. Urban renewal research
presents a centralized distribution pattern in research disciplines, journals and research
institutions. In terms of research content and questions, the overall analysis of the research
area, research object and strategy method of urban renewal in recent 10 years is more static. It
is difficult to accurately locate the trend of urban renewal research in the process of land and
space planning implementation. Therefore, further comparative studies are needed to grasp
and predict its research orientation.
By comparing the research results of urban renewal before and after 2016, this paper
analyzes the trend changes of its spatial-temporal characteristics, research objects and
strategies. First of all, urban renewal research has gradually expanded from Shanghai and
Shenzhen to Guangzhou, Beijing, Xi’an and other cities. The pace of renewal has shifted
from one-way development of urban areas to two-way development of urban areas and towns.Secondly, before 2016, urban renewal paid more attention to historical and cultural blocks, land property rights, old cities and other objects.
After 2016, industrial heritage, urban village, ecology, public elements, landscape and other objects have been added. It shows that ecological
protection and cultural heritage protection and utilization have gradually become the focus of urban renewal. Finally, the urban renewal strategy
has also shifted from community governance and renovation methods such as public participation, old city renewal and old city reconstruction
to territorial planning concerns such as ecological restoration, collaborative planning, community participation, protection, micro renewal,
community governance, urban restoration and historical protection, as well as reuse, protection and ecological restoration.
With the deep implementation of territorial planning, urban renewal orientation gradually focuses on ecological protection and restoration,
heritage protection and utilization, spatial optimization and weaving: 1) Ecological protection emphasizes the construction of ecological
protection system and evaluation index based on ecological protection red line and related requirements, which can provide reference for
ecological problems involved in urban renewal. For the damaged urban ecosystem or polluted land, ecological restoration is used to achieve
reuse. 2) Urban renewal pays more and more attention to the protection and utilization of historical and cultural heritage. Through the cultural
heritage corridor, the historical and cultural relics are integrated and protected in an integrated and systematic way. At the same time, the relevant
research also advocates the protection and utilization of historical and cultural blocks from the perspective of interdisciplinary, considering
its spatial form, cultural context, ecological characteristics and other factors. In addition, industrial heritage has also begun to move towards a
model of protection and development of industrial heritage based on multi-faceted value characteristics, combined with government management
and urban development. 3) Territorial planning advocates the policy of “retaining, changing and demolishing” the old space. The space weaving
and optimization of urban villages and old residential areas in urban renewal can effectively improve the quality of life and protect the living
environment.
From the perspective of territorial space, the research of urban renewal has gradually changed from macro control to local integration, from
transformation and utilization to protection and restoration, from single space renewal to multi-dimensional integration of history, ecology and
human settlements. In addition, as the country is committed to the construction of ecological civilization, urban-rural balance and integrated
development, there will be more possibilities for urban renewal in the future. First of all, urban renewal will continue to expand from the central
city to the periphery of the city. Secondly, its research object will be more fragmented, and emphasis more on the relations between emotion,
space and culture. Finally, the strategy and method of urban renewal will further use relevant platforms to realize big data analysis, artificial
intelligence and other new technologies to assist urban renewal based on micro transformation, public participation and other methods. |
