Land Use and Traffic Optimization Along Railway in Main Urban Area of Resource-Based Cities DuringTransition Period—A Case Study of Hanyeping Railway on the South Bank of the Magnetic Lake, Huangshi City
YU Yang,WEI Zhe,ZHAO Bo
Abstract:
Some early developed resource-based cities have entered the transition period, and the railway in the main urban area that had lost its functional value has become obstacles to the development of these cities. How to optimize the land use and traffic along the railway has also become an important proposition for the transformation and development. The influences of railway on the space along the route are analyzed from the aspects of land use forms and patterns, road network convergence and traffic accesses establishment, and the corresponding space optimization strategies are proposed. In the case of the Magnetic Lake south bank section of the Hanyeping railway, space optimization measures are put forward such as selective demolition and retention, land use integration and landform regulation, road network convergence improvement, urban function renewal and space reconstruction, to promote the land use and traffic optimization and urban industrial heritage protection, which are catalysts to impel the overall space repair, transformation and sustainable development of resource-based cities.
