| Though the analysis on Italian architectural theorist Francescl Dal Co's critical work on re-nowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, this article intends to illustrate the inspiring conception of tradi-tion in Dal Co's context, and discuss some basic issues such as the transformation of Ando's vocabu-laries since his mature establishments in early 1970s, highlighting the meanings of it in the background of modernism's general decline and showing the rela-tionship between architects and critics and their dif-ferent roles in constructing contemporary architec-tural culture. |
