Abstract:
The construction of healthy villages serves as a crucial cornerstone for achieving comprehensive rural revitalization, and improving the mental health of villagers should become an important part and objective of rural planning. Taking an exurban village in Xi'an as an example, a basic database was constructed through questionnaire surveys and geographical information collection. A binary logistic regression model was employed to explore the impacts of production, ecological, and living space elements on the mental health of villagers. The research findings are as follows: i) The spatial environmental characteristics within a relatively small area (300m) around the residential areas may have a more significant impact on mental health; ii) The concentrated layout of cultivated land is beneficial to villagers’ mental health; iii) There are differences in the impacts of the proximity of rural facilities to residential areas on mental health; iv) There is an apparent correlation between the distribution and morphological characteristics of woodlands and grasslands and mental health. Based on these findings, this study suggests that targeted spatial interventions can enhance villagers' psychological well-being and contribute to the construction of healthy villages, including optimizing the landscape functions of cultivated land, precisely allocating facilities for health and social interaction, and improving the accessibility of green space.
