Study on the influence of “double aging” neighborhoods on the active living behaviors of the elderly
chenmingyu
Abstract:
Older neighborhoods are the main places for the elderly to live in Chinese cities. Housing and the elderly have experienced the "double ageing" process of co-growth and co-ageing. Such residential areas are an important type of older neighborhoods regeneration. The practice of age friendly communities for the elderly under the framework of active aging has received more and more attention as a method to improve the care of the elderly in the home and community. This practice is to meet ease living (basic life needs), happy living (personal interest development) and home living (neighborhood co-construction and participation), but the research and practice on the “double ageing” neighborhoods regeneration under this framework are still insufficient. For this reason, this study selects four typical "double-ageing" neighborhoods in Beijing, using the activity path recording method to summarize the characteristics of the elderly group engaged in active life behavior, and combining the elderly-based interviews with multi-stakeholders to further analyze the factors of environmental space, economy and other dimensions that affect their behavioral positivity and the deep reasons that hinder the sustainable regeneration process of older neighborhoods. Finally, combining the research conclusions, it puts forward environmental regeneration strategies and policy recommendations for "double ageing" neighborhoods from the three spatial scales of cities and communities, communities and residential areas, residential areas and buildings.
